This edition of ‘Sound Bites’ features an electronic musician, a pop songstress, a rock duo, and an Argentinian singer-songwriter.
Michael It’z - Plastika | Music for a Film
Self-described as a mix between electronic music and neo-classical, Michael It’z is one to watch in electronic music. His latest album Plastika | Music for a Film, was released in January this year under Cleopatra Records. Storytelling without lyrics is something hard to capture, but It’z details the juxtaposition between a jovial summer day on “Ultraviolet Summertime” with a melancholy longing on “Winter in Paddington.” As someone who doesn’t listen to a lot of electronic music, I was pleasantly surprised by how detailed and dynamic his work is.

Dani Kristina - Aura EP
Dani Kristina is an up and coming pop powerhouse from Toronto, Canada. Her debut EP, Aura, is a deeply personal release perfect for fans of Taylor Swift and Halsey. Her cinematic pop sound is infectious and explores the complex emotions that accompany a relationship. From holding onto the memories of a past love in “Drift Away,” to the bubbly retribution song, “Laundry Day” that is reminiscent of a Kacey Musgraves song, Kristina writes with her heart to make herself relatable to a wider audience. I know that I’m going to be listening to a lot more of Dani Kristina in the future and I'm excited for any releases she has in the future!

The Arcade - “Eyes of Midnight"
Brothers Oli and Tom from the West Midlands are working to bring rock music into the new decade with their band The Arcade. Their debut single, “Eyes of Midnight” trades in anthemic stadium rock for a more intimate and gritty sound that’s sure to have listeners engaged. Led by a strong guitar riff, the song doesn’t change up the genre by too much but is still an enjoyable listen. I’ll be making sure to keep my eyes open for more from the duo.
